The Georgian Deputy Foreign Minister, Teimuraz Janjalia received the Ukrainian Ambassador to Georgia, Igor Dolgov. Discussions focused on the situation around Mikheil Saakashvili, a citizen of Ukraine and the statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
The Ambassador was once again updated on the steps taken by the State of Georgia to protect the health and safety of Mikheil Saakashvili. It was highlighted that the Ukrainian side can receive detailed information, on a permanent basis, on any issue regarding Mikheil Saakshvili from the Georgian Embassy to Ukraine, as well as from the counterpart agencies. The Georgian side, therefore, expressed the hope that the Partner State will have no additional questions to raise regarding Mikheil Saakashvili’s rights that are protected in full compliance with the laws of Georgia and international standards.
Putting high value on Georgia-Ukraine strategic partnership, the sides highlighted the importance of mutual respect for the laws, the state institutions and the justice system of the two countries.
