US Ambassador to Georgia welcomes the Government’s decision to allow the former president Mikheil Saakashvili to attend the court hearing.

“We’re very glad that Mr. Saakashvili’s condition allows him to attend today his hearing. The US as well as others called for him to be able to attend, if that was his desire, as part of his right to a fair trial. That’s something that is also enshrined in Georgia’s constitution, that all defendants have a right to a fair trial, including attending in person, if they so desire”, - said Kelly Degnan.
