Yesterday we saw a former dictator, who bemoans excessive power - Irakli Kobakhidze

The Chairman of the Georgian Dream commented on yesterday’s speech of Mikheil Saakashvili at the plenary sitting of the autumn session.

“Mikheil Saakashvili’s speech probably reminded us of Marquez’s famous work, The Autumn of the Patriarch. Yesterday, we saw a former dictator, who bemoans excessive power, which he had in his time and which he had been abusing for years.

Torture, inhuman treatment, rape, business racketeering, media seizure, monopolization, transfer of territories - these are just a few of the heinous crimes committed by Mikheil Saakashvili, his regime and the United National Movement.

Our country and our people did not deserve to repeat this. Naturally, these crimes will not be repeated, we have the ambition to be a civilized, European society, for which the crimes committed by the previous regime and the previous government are unacceptable and incompatible.

We deserve a fundamentally different type of system that was established in Georgia after 2012”, - said Irakli Kobakhidze.
