Communications Commission presented an annual report to the Parliamentary Sectoral Committee

The Chairperson of the National Communications Commission (ComCom), presented the annual report to the Parliament.

Kakah Bekauri talked about the dissemination of obscenity in the media and regulation mechanisms. As he said, the similar facts previously were complained in the self-regulation body of a broadcaster, but the Constitutional Court decision changed this approach.

“Regulation of the media is a sensitive topic. We make the decisions but do not sanction the broadcasters. Media independence and freedom are valuable and significant for us”, - added the Chairman of ComCom.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the civil sector along with the MPs.
