“During the special operation by the Armed Forces of Russia, control was established over the Chernobyl and Zaporozhye nuclear power plants and adjacent territories. This move was undertaken exclusively to prevent Ukrainian nationalist and other formations as well as foreign mercenaries from taking advantage of the situation that shaped in the country to organize nuclear provocations, and these risks really exist.
The situation at both nuclear power plants is controlled jointly by Ukrainian specialists and Russian servicemen, the radiation background is normal at both stations, the Zaporozhye NPP is functioning normally and there are no risks for local residents”, - said the diplomat.
