Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, David Zalkaliani held a video conference with the Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, Adam Smith.


David Zalkaliani stressed the importance of the strong bipartisan support of the US Congress and thanked Congressman Smith for his many years of involvement and strong support to Georgia.

During the conversation, the sides discussed Russia’s aggression against Ukraine and its negative impact on peace and security in the region. Minister focused on the difficult security and humanitarian situation in the occupied regions of Georgia. The importance of international partners’ consolidated support for Georgia and the need to deepen political and trade-economic ties for enhancing our country’s resilience was once again underlined.

The sides highlighted the importance of further deepening the US-Georgia strategic partnership, especially in the field of defense and security, as well as U.S. support for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and for its path to NATO and EU membership.
