The ruling team decided to consider the draft amendments to the Law on the Constitutional Court in an expedited manner.
Anri Okhanashvili, David Matikashvili and Rati Ionatamishvili - authors of the draft law - have already applied to the Parliamentary Bureau. The sitting is scheduled for today, March 25.
If the Bureau approves the request, it means that the legislative initiative will be considered by the Parliament in all 3 readings next week and adopted in a so-called expedited manner.
The current law on the Constitutional Court reads that a state body can initiate a dispute against another body on the basis of a normative act issued by it, which means that within the scope of a dispute of competence only a normative act can be appealed.
According to the draft amendments, such a dispute can be initiated not only on the basis of a normative act, but also on the basis of “action / inaction”, if one state body considers that the other has violated its constitutional authority.
