IPRM ends without results - 8 detained Georgian citizens remain in Tskhinvali

The 106th Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism was held today in Ergneti, under the co-facilitation of Ambassador Marek Szczygieł, Head of the EU Monitoring Mission in Georgia and Ambassador Viorel Moşanu, Special Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office for the South Caucasus.

The meeting ended without results. The Georgian authorities still could not reach an agreement with the occupation regime on the release of Georgian citizens.

Eight Georgian citizens remain in the captivity of the occupation regime, two of them are former soldiers - Mamuka Chkhikvadze and Levan Machabeli.

The EUMM and OSCE representatives commended the commitment of the participants to the IPRM and stressed the importance of continuing the effective use of the EUMM-managed Hotline, in particular with a view to the upcoming Easter period.
