Chief accountant of the Gori Culture and Tourism Development Agency detained on charges of misappropriation of large sums of money.

According to the State Security Service of Georgia, the investigation revealed that the person systematically transferred the budget funds belonging to the Agency to his/her personal bank account opened at JSC TBC Bank and JSC Liberty Bank for various purposes, and then s/he used the money in the Internet gambling.

“The amount of money misappropriated by him/her amounted to GEL 143 985.13 GEL at this stage, however, intensive investigation of accounting and banking documents is ongoing, after the completion of which the amount misappropriated is expected to increase sharply.

The investigation is ongoing into the misappropriation of large sums of money using official position”, - reads the statement of the agency.
