To hold the upcoming UEFA European Under-21 Championship in Georgia, the Government has decreed to launch athletic infrastructure rehabilitation

Today, the Cabinet convened at the Administration of the Government. The meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili, discussed six issues from its meeting agenda.

To hold the upcoming UEFA European Under-21 Championship in Georgia in line with the highest standards, the Government has decreed to launch athletic infrastructure rehabilitation/upgrading in Tbilisi, Saguramo, Kutaisi, Tskaltubo, Kobuleti, and Batumi, under the Program for Developing Sports Infrastructure.

The estimated value of the program, financed from the state budget, is set at 100 million GEL.

Under the program, training grounds will be reconstructed and rehabilitated, and new stadiums will be designed and built.

Besides the sites available for the championship, a total of 12 infrastructural sites will be built. The design and construction work under eh program will start this year. Georgia will host the UEFA European Under-21 Championship from June 21 through July 8, 2023.
