The Government of Georgia is responsible for the physical and mental health of Mikheil Saakashvili. Such a statement made today the EU Ambassador to Georgia.

“I’m not privy to firsthand information about the health situation of [Mikheil] Saakashvili, nor am I a doctor to make the correct judgment. But I have been becoming increasingly concerned over recent reports coming, including from medical expertise regarding his condition.

For me and for the European Union the crucial point is that the responsibility for the physical and mental health of [Mikheil] Saakashvili rests with the state not as a matter of a political choice but as a matter of fundamental human rights”, - said Carl Hartzell.
