The employees of the Central Criminal Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs arrested several times convicted in past - A. Kh., (DoB 1982) for extortion in Tbilisi.

The crime envisions up to 4 years of imprisonment.

The investigation established that the accused person demanded to cover a large debt of his relative from the citizen V.C. and in case of failing to comply, threatened him to use violence posing danger to his life and health. V.C. handed over part of the requested amount to A.K.

The accused person, contacted V.C. several times by phone and demanded the payment of the remaining amount of the debt, threatening to use violence.

Based on the judge’s ruling, the police carried out undercover investigative activities, as well as complex investigative-procedural measures, as a result of which the illegal actions committed by A.K. against V.C. were confirmed.

As a result of investigative activities, after the transfer of the remaining amount by the victim, the law enforcement officers arrested A.K. as a suspect.

The investigation into the fact of extortion is being conducted in accordance with Article 181, Part I of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
