Ilia Darchiashvili has met with the Secretary General of the OSCE

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, Ilia Darchiashvili, held a meeting with the Secretary General of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), Helga Schmid, within the framework of the UN General Assembly.


The sides emphasized Georgia’s successful cooperation with the OSCE. The Georgian Foreign Minister thanked the Secretary General for keeping the issue of Georgia high on the organization"s agenda and for the involvement of the OSCE in the peaceful settlement of the conflict.

The sides discussed the current security environment in the region and Russia"s ongoing military aggression against Ukraine. Georgia’s active support of Ukraine within the framework of the organization was also noted.

The sides paid special attention to the situation in Georgia’s occupied regions. They emphasized the importance of the organization"s involvement in the Geneva International Discussions and the need to achieve progress in this format.

During the meeting, the sides highlighted Georgia’s role in establishing peace and stability in the South Caucasus region.

The OSCE Secretary General, for her part, emphasized her strong support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia and noted that the OSCE continues to be actively involved in the peaceful settlement of the Russia-Georgia conflict to ensure peace and security in Georgia.
