We all agree that what is happening in Ukraine should be settled through negotiations. Such a statement the Prime Minister of Georgia made at the briefing after the meeting with the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev.
“Based on the good-neighborly, friendly and strategic partnership between our countries, your visit is of great importance. I want to point out that your contribution is immeasurable to bringing the relations between Azerbaijan and Georgia closer, to strengthening our friendship and brotherhood. There is truly unique relationship between our countries. These relations are based on close historical ties, mutual respect. I am deeply convinced that the existing high-level relations will be further strengthened.
Today we talked about many issues related to the strong partnership and cooperation between our countries. We also reviewed the complex situation in the world, ongoing processes, situation in the region.
We all agree that what is happening in Ukraine should be settled through negotiations. I would also like to say that in the face of rapidly changing and complex challenges in the region and the world, great importance is attached to peace and stability, which is a key condition for the development of our region and the well-being of our peoples in general.
We touched upon the current situation in the region, the recent agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia on the start of the peaceful negotiation process, this gives us great hope.
I want to confirm once again that Georgia, personally I, our Government declare our full readiness to continue and support the peaceful policy that we started together. I would like to point out that the initiative of the peaceful neighborhood does not contradict and does not replace any other format of cooperation. I believe that we will do many more important things together”, - said Irakli Garibashvili.
