There was tension in the Tbilisi City Council. Members of the Council from Georgian Dream and the opposition confronted each other.
The confrontation started in the corridor of the Council and continued in the session hall. The altercation erupted in response to majority member Irakli Kheladze’s accusation that the opposition was aiming to “gain profits” from the October 13 Vake Park fountain tragedy that claimed a life of a teenager.
Part of the opposition left the Tbilisi City Council session in a protest. Deputies made the decision after the Chairman of the City Council, Giorgi Tkemaladze, stopped the statements part and moved on to discuss the issues included in the agenda.
The representatives of the ruling team said that the opposition is trying to politicize the tragedy in Vake Park and is speculating on the issue.
