An event related to the annual Diplomat’s Day was held in the Orbeliani Palace. As the President said, the professional day of envoys and diplomats “really belongs to everyone who has contributed to the protection of Georgia’s interests”.

This year Georgia celebrated Diplomat’s Day on November 3, marking the birthday of the writer, public and historical political figure Sulkhan-Saba Orbeliani.

“Today, we are where we are precisely because there was first Sulkhan-Saba, and then there were our passionate patriots [and] diplomats, and they understood that the path [of European integration] we chose, no matter how difficult, had no alternative.

The objective had been a goal without alternatives for our ancestors. This struggle doesn’t end, the challenges are getting harder and the demands are increasing. More professionalism is needed, because the protection of the country’s interests today takes place in many directions”, - said Salome Zourabichvili.
