The “Law on de-oligarchization” sent by Ukraine is available on the website of the Venice Commission. At the same time, a few hours ago the US Ambassador to Georgia said that the Ukraine withdrawn the “Law on de-oligarchization” from the Venice Commission.
The European Union delegation called on Georgia to send the draft law on de-oligarchization to the Venice Commission: “De-oligarchisation” draft law passed second reading. We reiterate our strong suggestion: a Venice Commission opinion should be requested and implemented before its adoption”.
It shoukd be mentioned that the Venice Commission announced back in January 2022 that the draft conclusion on the Ukrainian "Law on de-oligarchization" is ready and should be submitted to the commission for approval at the March session of this year.
“The Bureau of the Venice Commission has decided that the draft opinion on the Law on the prevention of threats to national security, associated with excessive influence of persons having significant economic or political weight in public life (oligarchs) will be submitted for discussion and adoption at its 130th Plenary Session (18-19 March 2022)”, - reads the statement on the official web-site.
