According to the decision of the Council of Treasurers of the Parliament, the deducted salary of the members of the Parliament will be used for charity events. The mentioned issue was voted on today at the session of the Bureau.
As the Speaker, Shalva Papuashvili clarified, due to the unjustified absence of the sessions or other parliamentary events, during the current year, the MPs were charged a total of GEL 80,000. According to him, 77% of the deducted money goes to the opposition members of the Parliament, which is about GEL 60,000.
If an MP fails to attend a committee sitting twice in a calendar month without an excusable cause, 10% of his/her salary shall be withheld for each subsequent absence from the sitting without an excusable cause, respectively.
