The European Commission Report evidenced that Georgia is an unequivocal leader in the region in terms of reforming. As the assessment reveals, Georgia is far ahead of the candidate states with the degree of preparedness, the Chair of the EU Integration Committee, Maka Botchorishvili stated at the Committee sitting when dwelling on the contribution of the Parliament in the fulfillment of the Association Agreement.
According to her, within the period of 2014-2022, the Parliament adopted 58 new Laws, amended over 570 Laws, approved 26 international agreements and ratified 12 resolutions and thus, significantly contributing to this process.
“The European Commission has accomplished the assessment related to the EU membership applications of Georgia, Ukraine and Moldova. The assessments on all countries have been promulgated. The European Commission performed a thorough estimation of the progress of the three countries on the basis of the questionnaires that Georgia has filled out in April 2022. It is the result indeed that has been achieved by Georgia upon the signing of the Association Agreement through devotion and intensive efforts. The Report evidenced that Georgia is an unequivocal leader in the region in terms of reforming.
EC Opinion has been developed according to the EU enlargement assessment criterion and estimates the compatibility of a country with the EU in 5 key directions and 32 spheres.
As the assessment also reveals, Georgia is far ahead of the candidate states with the degree of preparedness. It is especially noteworthy to highlight the progress achieved by Georgia in the directions that are of particular significance in the EU integration process – these are the fundamental issues and the EU domestic market”, - said Maka Botchorishvili.
