The Chair of the Foreign Relations Committee, Head of the Permanent Delegation of Georgia to the OSCE PA, Nikoloz Samkharadze, serves an official visit to Austria.

As part of the winter session of the OSCE PA, the Political Affairs and Security Committee convened a session in Vienna, where the participants discussed the security environment, Russia"s aggression in Ukraine, and the role, functions, and contribution of the OSCE.

The OSCE PA Committee on Democracy, Human Rights, and Humanitarian Questions, presided by the Chair of the Committee, Nikoloz Samkharadze, reviewed the activities of the 6 months of 2022 and discussed the challenges facing democracy and human rights violations during the conflict period.

During his speech, Nikoloz Samkharadze talked about the ongoing Russian aggression in Ukraine.

“Tens of thousands of people died and entire Ukrainian towns and villages were destroyed as a result of Russia"s barbaric action against an OSCE member state last year. This is yet another heinous Russian attack from the twenty-first century. Russia currently occupies and annexes the territories of two countries, Georgia and Ukraine. We, within the framework of this assembly, must be united in respect to assault, occupation, and annexation against sovereign states because this is a flagrant breach of international law”, - said Nikoloz Samkharadze.
