Ilia Darchiashvili meets UN High Commissioner for Human Rights

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia met with UN High Commissioner for Human Rights.

Ilia Darchiashvili and Volker Türk welcomed Georgia’s membership in the UN Human Rights Council for the period of 2023-2025 and emphasized Georgia’s fruitful activity in fulfilling the Council’s main principles and tasks.

The discussion also touched on the difficult situation in the Russian-occupied regions of Georgia and stressed the Commissioner’s key role in keeping this very issue on the international agenda.

Foreign Minister expressed his readiness to host the High Commissioner in Georgia.
