I came to Georgia with a specific message: we want to see Georgia in the EU, we will support you on this path - Annalena Baerbock

We want to see Georgia in the European Union, we want Georgians to enrich the European Union. Such a statement made today German Foreign Minister at a briefing after the meeting with her Georgian counterpart.

“Germany has is great interest in Georgia, its people, history, amazing nature and cuisine. The interest is proved by the increase in the number of German tourists who want to come to Georgia.

We in Germany have been intensively observing the ongoing processes in your country regarding the “Foreign Agents” draft law during the past weeks. European flags were flying. I was very impressed that men and women were walking in the streets of Tbilisi, waving the European flag. All this contributed to the development of civil society. Our experience in Europe is a strong civil society. This is not only a chance, but also a belief in European values. There is also an incentive. We can be proud of a strong civil society. Georgia is the EU. We were convinced of this not by the past weeks, but by the past year. The place of people, the population of Georgia is in the EU.

Therefore, I came to Georgia with a specific message. We want to see Georgia in the EU, we want Georgians to enrich the EU. We will support you on this path. You have friends in Brussels and Berlin you can count on. They will sincerely support you to join the EU. It is important that we go through this path together, sincerely”, - said Annalena Baerbock.
