I had the opportunity to talk about what Georgia has done in fulfilling the EU priorities, what reforms have been carried out. Such a statement the Georgian Foreign Minister Ilia Darchiashvili made after the meeting with his Polish counterpart Zbigniew Rau.
In his remarks at a joint press conference, Darchiashvili noted the visit would “greatly” contribute to the bilateral relations.
“We are united not only by deep, historical ties and long traditions of friendship, but also by common interests and aspirations. Georgian people will always remember Poland’s selfless support during the most difficult period of our country"s recent history. We cannot forget the very strong support of the great friend of Georgia, President Lech Kaczyński.
We are very grateful for Poland’s unwavering support for our country’s European and Euro-Atlantic aspirations. Even today, Poland plays an outstanding role in the implementation of our foreign political priorities, and the visit of the Minister to Georgia will further strengthen this cooperation and partnership.
I would like to emphasise once again that Poland’s support for our European and Euro-Atlantic integration is vital, and we are glad to have Poland as such a strong friend.
The Georgian Government is doing everything to fulfil the European Union conditions for receiving its membership candidate status later this year.
Also, I had the opportunity to talk about what Georgia has done in fulfilling the EU priorities, what reforms have been carried out. We know that the main part of conditions has been completed. We continue to work actively to fulfil these priorities, so that Georgia receives the EU candidate status by the end of the year”, - said Ilia Darchiashvili.
