Grigol Liluashvili meets Dimitrios Karabalis, the Head of the EUMM in Georgia

The security situation near the Russian occupation line and in the Russian-occupied regions of Georgia, and release of Georgian citizens illegally detained by de facto authorities in the territories were discussed in a meeting between Grigol Liluashvili, the Head of the Georgian State Security Service and Dimitrios Karabalis, the Head of the European Union Monitoring Mission in Georgia.

The parties reviewed meetings of the Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism. They also highlighted the need to “effectively use and strengthen” the existing negotiation formats.

The contribution of the EUMM to ensuring security in the South Caucasus region, and the cooperation between the Service and the EUMM were underlined.
