The Speaker of the Georgian Parliament held a meeting with the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev.
Shalva Papuashvili highlighted the heritage of the national leader of Azerbaijan –President Heydar Aliyev in the formation of a powerful state and development of the strategic projects in the South Caucasus.
The Chairman thanked the President for supporting the territorial integrity of Georgia and his personal merit in the enhancement of the Georgia-Azerbaijan strategic partnership. The parties gave a positive assessment to the bilateral relations and emphasized productive cooperation in the spheres of energy, transport, trade etc.
The parties underlined the increasing value of the so-called middle route for the energy security of the two countries and Europe. The conversation touched upon the developments in the region.
The parties expressed their commitment to further intensifying cooperation in facilitation of the regional peace, welfare and stability.
