The program of replacement of damaged houses in Tbilisi continues - 4-storey residential building will be replaced by the 8-storey apartment. Such a statement made today the Mayor of Tbilisi.

“There is a dilapidated building at N6, David Gamrekeli first alley, Saburtalo District. It is a 4-storey residential building in a very poor condition, on the verge of collapse, where about 17 families live. Instead of this house, an 8-storey apartment building will be built, and all seventeen families will receive refurbished apartments. The total cost of the construction and repair works of this building is 6.5 million GEL.

We are ready to help all the families living in such poor conditions. You know that there is a separate program for monuments of cultural heritage and we are ready to support you, the citizens, as much as possible so that the mentioned buildings are rehabilitated not only by Tbilisi Development Fund, but by other businesses engaged in the process so that to offer our citizens decent living conditions.

Unfortunately, there are many buildings in our capital that have been assigned different degrees of dilapidation. We have a program of replacing these buildings and giving their dwellers new residential buildings built with modern Georgian architecture. We already have some projects in the construction phase, as well as projects at various preparatory stages and the ones awaiting approval. The program is running well, but I wish there was higher involvement with more beneficiaries. Unfortunately, sometimes residents ask for more space, for which we have neither the right, nor the means to provide. We are prepared to give out the residential apartments of the same area they had before”, - said Kakha Kaladze.
