It is necessary to limit the movement of visitors and pilgrims in the vicinity of the ravine on the territory of the monastery - NEA

Geologists of the National Environment Agency are continuing to study the rock mass collapse processes developed in the vicinity of the Shio mghvime monastery.

“A relatively large amount of ground mass collapsed in the vicinity of the monastery complex, however, the collapsed mass didn’t directly reach the territory of the monastery.

According to the recommendation given by the representatives of the Department of Geology, it is important to carry out the cleaning works of the bed of the ravine at the first stage, so that the said bed doesn"t hinder the expected further flow”, - said the Deputy Head of the Department of Geology of the National Environment Agency, Otar Kurtsikidze, who was on the spot with a group of geologists.

Also, it is necessary to limit the movement of visitors and pilgrims in the vicinity of the ravine on the territory of the monastery. At this stage, specialists are preparing a report. It will be sent to the relevant agencies upon completion.
