According to the Defense Ministry, its employee, 50-year-old Temur Kharchilava, who was involved in the rescue work in Shovi, allegedly died of a heart attack.

“The Ministry of Defense of Georgia expresses deep sorrow over the death of the senior instructor of the 10th Territorial Defense Brigade of the National Guard, Temur Kharchilava [born in 1973].

On August 29, 2023, the instructor of the 2nd training course of the training center “Sorta” was performing his duty in Shovi, Oni municipality, and during the ongoing rescue work, he died presumably from a heart attack.

The Ministry of Defense once again extends its condolences over the death of Temur Kharchilava with the family, relatives, and colleagues of the deceased”, - reads the statement of the Ministry of Defense.
