It is important for the EU to understand once again what future plans it has regarding Georgia and make the right decision this time. Such a statement made today the Speaker of the Georgian Parliament.

“[Josep] Borrell’s visit was particularly important and fruitful, during which, in addition to high-level political meetings, technical meetings were also held.

We, among other things, talked about the recommendations, we exchanged important ideas and discussed what else can be done to fulfill these recommendations.

The Parliament is going to discuss these issues. On the other hand, we expect that there will be an evaluation of our performance. We have only one expectation - the European Union will once again think about the fact that it has an important decision to make.

In 2022 we saw that the decision for all three countries was political, less based on merit. Unfortunately, the EU made a wrong political decision last year when it oppressed the leading country and did not grant it candidate status.

Of course, this is a message not only for the Georgian people, but also for those who are not well-wishers of Georgia. Therefore, it is important for the EU to understand once again what future plans it has regarding Georgia and make the right decision this time”, - said Shalva Papuashvili.
