Russia plans to build a 3rd military base on our territory, of course, without our permission, this is the result and continuation of occupation, said the Prime Minister of Georgia in his remarks at the 3rd edition of the Summit in Spain.

“I informed them about the information spread this morning. You know that it has become known that Russia plans to build a 3rd military base, in this case, a naval base, on our territory, of course, without our permission. This is the result of occupation. This is the continuation of occupation. That’s how we perceive this illegal decision, naturally. I told them that it makes this situation even worse.

Everyone knows very well that Georgia is in a very specific situation, since a significant part of the country’s territory is occupied. Despite all this, Georgia is able to develop, advance and carry out reforms so that to maintain peace and stability. This really needs skills and we really have something to say in that direction.

I also had important bilateral meetings with European leaders. I briefed them on this progress and received confirmation from all European leaders that they will support Georgia’s candidate status. I also told him that if the country does not receive the status, it will be absolutely incomprehensible, it will be an insult to our Georgian people, it will be undeserved, so to speak, another attempt to oppress the country or treat it unfairly”, - said Irakli Garibashvili.
