For the first time in the history of Georgia, the Parliament starts the impeachment of the President - the discussion in the legislative body will start on October 18 at 12:00.
The Parliament, during today’s plenary session, adopted a resolution with 88 votes in favor and 8 against. This resolution pertains to the consideration of the issue of impeaching President Salome Zourabichvili and establishing a voting period.
According to Speaker of the Parliament Shalva Papuashvili, President has confirmed her participation in the discussion of this issue.
The resolution specifies that the legislature will review the impeachment of Salome Zourabichvili based on the Constitutional Court’s conclusion regarding her violation of the Constitution (No. 3/1/1797, dated 16.10.2023).
The vote on this matter is scheduled for the autumn of 2023, during the week of October 17-20, within the plenary sessions of that session.
