Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said today that Georgia is ready to receive the European Union membership candidate status. He made this comment before the Session of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe in Brussels.

“It is a good country, Georgia is a good country. It is in good shape, ready to become a candidate for the European Union membership.

Today there will be a discussion and we will prepare the text... and I hope that as a result of the discussion, we will mention Georgia as a future member of the European Union”, - said Viktor Orban.

The Hungarian PM visited Georgia earlier this month with his wife and the representatives of his Government, ahead of the upcoming European Commission report on Georgia’s implementation of the EU conditions for obtaining the bloc’s candidacy in December.
