Georgia, as an impartial, neutral-objective mediator and a friend of Azerbaijan and Armenia, is interested in establishing long-term peace and stability in our region. Such a statement the Prime Minister of Georgia made at the ceremony during which the foundation was laid for the construction of the State Theater of Azerbaijan in Tbilisi.
“I have the honor to participate in the construction ceremony of the State Theater of Azerbaijan. As you know, Azerbaijani theater has a long history in our country.
The first theater was founded in 1872, and today we are all happy that the foundation for the construction of a new modern theater building will be laid and very soon another remarkable place will be added to our capital.
Today is a proof of our friendship, our deep ties, our strong cooperation. As you know, Mr. Ilham Aliyev was in Georgia a few weeks ago, with whom we had a very fruitful meeting and conversation. Together we visited the exhibition of Heydar Aliyev, the national leader of Azerbaijan.
This year, Azerbaijan celebrates the 100th anniversary of Heydar Aliyev. It is within the framework of this anniversary that we are symbolically laying the foundation for the construction of this theater today. I also want to thank the Prime Minister of Azerbaijan.
I am grateful that you came to Tbilisi and participated in the Silk Road Forum. We appreciate it very much. Also, we appreciate the fact that yesterday we jointly held important meetings, there was also a tripartite meeting. Georgia, as an impartial, neutral-objective mediator and a friend of both countries, is interested in establishing long-term peace and stability in our region. Our country and I personally, as the head of the Government, are ready to participate in this”, - said Irakli Garibashvili.
