The main goal of the Georgian government is to maintain peace, ensure stability - Garibashvili

The main goal of the Georgian government is to maintain peace, ensure stability and contribute to economic growth, said the Prime Minister of Georgia at the Baku Economic Forum of the United Nations Special Program for the Economies of Central Asia (SPECA).

“Despite the instability and security challenges in the region and the world, we managed to reach the targets with its pragmatic and rational foreign and correct economic policies.

The Georgian economy has grown by 10% in the last few years. This trend is kept this year. We have 7% growth in this period, inflation is less than 1%. We expect that the GPB per capita will be over USD 8,000 at the end of the year. I would also like to underline that our country’s international reserves in July of 2023 reached a historic maximum. Unemployment and poverty rates significantly lowered”, - said Irakli Garibashvili.

He also said his Government was making “significant” investments in large-scale projects to promote regional trade.

“In recent years, investments have been made in the renovation of the country’s highways, railways and airports. Now we are working on the Anaklia deep sea port project, the capacity of which will be 100 million tonnes per year”, he noted in reference to the initiative for the facility on Georgia’s Black Sea coast.

We are also working together on the Black Sea submarine electricity cable project, which was signed last year in Bucharest by the leaders of Georgia, Azerbaijan, Hungary and Romania. We think that this project will be very interesting not only for our region, but also for Europe”, - added the Head of the Government.
