During the meeting with the Ambassadors of the European Union and Germany, I expressed the position of Georgia that the visit of the former Minister of Justice, Zurab Adeishvili, is unacceptable to us. Such a statement made the Mnister of Foreign Affairs. Minister Ilia Darchiashvili,
“Today I had a meeting with the EU Ambassador and also with the German Ambassador to Georgia. In the format of these meetings, we expressed concern about the fact that we witnessed and saw that person participating in specific meetings.
We believe that under the laws of Georgia, people who are suspected and accused of serious crimes should not participate in similar public activities in our partner and friendly countries.
Therefore, I had the opportunity to talk to the ambassadors about this matter. In general, we remember other people too, who move freely within the European Union, against whom here are very serious charges. It is unacceptable for us that people accused of very serious crimes participated in public events of this type, attended meetings organized by our closest friends and partners.
It would not be right to talk about the details of our conversation. We told the ambassadors that we are concerned about what we have seen. We believe that criminals should not participate in similar meetings”, - said Ilia Darchiashvili.
