The Chairperson of the European Integration Committee of the Georgian Parliament highlighted the imperative of transparency in governance, addressing the domestic opposition’s concerns surrounding the proposed bill on transparency of foreign influence.
In her remarks, Maka Botchorishvili refuted claims that the bill on the transparency was targeting specific individuals or entities, emphasizing its broader purpose of promoting accountability and integrity in public affairs.
“When you struggle against transparency and are afraid to reveal something, you probably have something to hide. The argument that this [law] is allegedly directed against someone is absolutely wrong. No one, if they are acting in good faith in this country, should see this law as directed against them”, - said Maka Botchorishvili.
