This draft law is incompatible with European norms and European values. Such a statement made today the EU Ambassador to Georgia, while commenting the draft law “On transparency of foreign influence” could become an obstacle on the way to the EU.

“Especially in the current context, it will be very difficult for the European Commission to make a positive assessment if this law is adopted.

I understand that this is only a suggestion that there still needs to be a discussion that will continue for several weeks and possibly several months.

I sincerely hope that a way will be found to ensure transparency, which is absolutely legitimate, without marginalizing, sidelining and stigmatizing civil society organizations, which play a very important role in any democracy, including Georgia, which is on the way to Europe”, - said Paweł Herczyński.
