Under Secretary for Civilian Security, Democracy, and Human Rights is in Tbilisi. Uzra Zeya met today with human rights defenders and representatives of the civil society.
“Grateful to meet with human rights defenders and civil society, who play a crucial role in supporting Georgia’s democratic and Euro-Atlantic path. The United States urges respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms for all”, - she wrote after the meeting.
The next meeting the Under Secretary held with Georgian Dream women leaders discussing the importance of upholding democratic norms and human rights.
“Strongly supports the people’s Euro-Atlantic aspirations, but GD’s actions have derailed progress toward this goal. We call on the gov’t to stop anti-democratic actions and anti-U.S. disinformation”, - wrote Uzra Zeya on X.
The President of Georgia Salome Zourabichvili also hosted Under Secretary for Civilian Security, Democracy, and Human Rights at the Orbelian Palace.
“The President discussed the country’s European future, emphasising that Georgia has never been and will never be pro-Russian; the vast majority of Georgians support the country’s European course. Salome Zourabichvili praised Under Secretary for the United States’ strong assistance for the country’s growth in a variety of domains since the nation’s independence”, - reads the statement of the Presidential Administration .
