Members of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Parliament of Austria are in Tbilisi

The Chair of the Foreign Relations Committee, Nikoloz Samkharadze held a meeting with his Austrian counterpart, the Chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Parliament of Austria, and the Committee members.

The parties overviewed bilateral relations and parliamentary cooperation prospects.

Samkharadze informed his Austrian colleagues about the developments in the region and underlined the key role of Georgia in ensuring regional security. He provided the Austrian politicians with details of the grave situation in the occupied regions of Georgia and the threats deriving from Russia. The discourse included the political milieu in Georgia and the upcoming elections.

The meeting was attended by the First Deputy Chair of Foreign Relations Committee, Mariam Lashkhi and Ambassador of Georgia to Austria, Ketevan Tsikhelashvili.

The Chairperson of the EU Integration Committee, Maka Botchorishvili, also met with the members of the Austrian delegation. The parties discussed the years-long bilateral relations and cooperation prospects. The discourse included the foreign political priorities of Georgia, the European and Euro-Atlantic integration of the countries, the geopolitical situation in the region and the security challenges for Georgia and the wider region.

Botchorishvili concentrated on the EU integration agenda and the fulfillment of the recommendations of the European Commission. Austrian MPs expressed their support for the EU enlargement policy and accentuated the necessary reforms, accompanying challenges and internal political perspectives.
