In recent years, support for the issue of occupation of Georgia has been growing exceptionally - Lasha Darsalia

Georgian First Deputy Foreign Minister praised the supportive statement issued by the United Nations Security Council [UNSC] member states regarding Georgia’s territorial integrity.

“We welcome the discussion of the issue of occupation of Georgian territories at the UNSC. We would like to thank the Maltese Presidency for its role as the current Chair of the Security Council.

This process followed extensive work conducted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in collaboration with its partners.

The backing that Georgia receives from international organizations, whether the Council of Europe, OSCE, or others, is crucial. I would emphasize the recent increase in support for resolutions concerning Georgia.

Notably, a resolution on Georgia was endorsed by 103 countries at the UN General Assembly. Georgia has also secured similar resolutions within the Human Rights Council and other international bodies. Moreover, I want to mention the recent decisions made by international courts.

International law and the global community unequivocally identify Russia as the country responsible for the occupation”, - said Lasha Darsalia.
