Prime Minister of Georgia meets Newly-Appointed Ambassador to Azerbaijan

Irakli Kobakhidze, Prime Minister of Georgia met Giorgi Zaqarashvili, newly-appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to the Republic of Azerbaijan.

The Head of Government of Georgia congratulated the diplomat on his appointment and wished him success.

The meeting highlighted the importance of the Ambassador`s work in further deepening the strategic partnership with Azerbaijan.

Giorgi Zaqarashvili will assume his duties as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to the Republic of Azerbaijan on October 1, 2026. He has many years of experience working at the central office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and in Georgia`s diplomatic missions.

Since 2021, Giorgi Zaqarashvili has served as Georgia`s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Ukraine and Georgia’s Permanent Representative to GUAM. From 2016 to 2019, he served as Chargé d’Affaires ad interim at the Section of Interests of Georgia at the Embassy of the Swiss Confederation in the Russian Federation, while from 2012 to 2016 he served as Chargé d`Affaires ad interim at the Embassy of Georgia in Ukraine and Georgia`s Permanent Mission to GUAM. He holds the diplomatic rank of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary.
