Seven Public Kindergartens temporarily closed on epidemiologists’ advice, 183 others remain open - Tbilisi Kindergarten Agency

The Tbilisi Kindergarten Management Agency has released a statement regarding the food poisoning incidents documented across capital pre-school facilities.

“Children registered at several public kindergartens in Tbilisi developed fever and, in certain instances, nausea and vomiting, subsequently seeking medical attention across various clinics.

Upon the recommendations of epidemiologists and in full compliance with statutory provisions, operations at seven public kindergartens have been temporarily suspended as a precautionary measure to mitigate public health risks. The remaining 183 nurseries continue to run as normal.

The Agency, in close coordination with all relevant bodies, including the Tbilisi Epidemiological Surveillance Service, the National Food Agency, the Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance, and the National Centre for Disease Control, is undertaking all necessary containment measures”, - reads the statement.

The Investigation Service of the Ministry of Finance launched a criminal investigation into the food poisoning cases reported across 20 kindergartens.
