Of the grapes processed, 6,800 tonnes are Saperavi, 1,700 tonnes are Rkatsiteli, while the remainder comprises various other grape varieties.

At this stage, around 400 wine companies are registered with the Grape Harvest Coordination Centre and will gradually become involved in the grape intake process.

This year’s forecast harvest is approximately 320,000 tonnes.

To ensure that the grape harvest is conducted in an organised manner and that the entire crop is sold, under a decision of the Government of Georgia, every winegrower will be able to deliver their grapes in the event of a surplus harvest. For this purpose, the Harvest Management Company LLC will purchase grapes grown in Kakheti from individuals in accordance with the established terms.

The price of undamaged Saperavi grapes meeting the required quality parameters and having a sugar content of at least 21% will be GEL 1.50 per kilogram. The price of Saperavi grapes that do not meet the required quality parameters, have a sugar content of between 17% and 21%, and/or are partially damaged will be GEL 0.90 per kilogram. The price of damaged Saperavi grapes and/or those with a sugar content below 17% will be GEL 0.30 per kilogram.

For other grapes harvested from vine varieties permitted under the Law of Georgia on Vine and Wine, the price of undamaged grapes with a sugar content of at least 20% will be GEL 1.30 per kilogram. The price will be GEL 0.80 per kilogram for grapes with a sugar content of between 17% and 20%, and GEL 0.30 per kilogram for grapes with a sugar content below 17%.
