Irakli Shatakishvili elected First Deputy Chair of the Legal Issues Committee

The Legal Issues Committee elected Irakli Shatakishvili as the First Deputy Chair.

Pursuant to Paragraph 2 of Article 35 of the Rules of Procedure of the Parliament, the candidacy of Irakli Shatakishvili was nominated by Archil Gorduladze, Committee Chair.

At today’s meeting, the Legal Issues Committee considered at the II reading and supported the amendments to the Law on Enforcement Proceedings, together with the accompanying draft laws.

Under the legislative amendments, the Enforcement Police Division will be transformed into the Enforcement Police Department. In addition, state special-rank employees of the said Department - enforcement police officers - will be provided with legal guarantees for adequate remuneration and appropriate social protection.

The draft was authored by the Ministry of Justice, while the initiator is the Government of Georgia.
