The Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze, met with the Secretary-General of the UN Tourism organization, Sheikha Nasser Al Nowais, who is on an official visit to Georgia.

At the meeting, the prospects for deepening relations between Georgia and the UN Tourism organization were discussed. The close and fruitful cooperation established over the years was emphasized.

The Prime Minister expressed hope that the Secretary-General’s visit to Georgia would contribute to the further development of the partnership and the successful implementation of joint priorities, as the UN Tourism organization plays an important role in supporting sustainable tourism development on a global scale.

Particular attention was paid to the positive trends in the development of the tourism sector in Georgia, the growing dynamics of international visitors, and the significant share of tourism in the country's economy.

As the Secretary-General of the UN Tourism organization noted, Georgia has achieved significant success in the field of tourism, and this is confirmed by figures. Sheikha Nasser Al Nowais emphasized Georgia’s role in terms of connectivity and noted that in this direction, Georgia represents the best example for other countries.

Attention was also given to the importance of promoting Georgia in global markets. It was noted that active international partnership will contribute to positioning Georgia as an attractive and safe tourist destination on the world market.

The meeting was attended by the Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, Mariam Kvrivishvili, and the Head of the Government Administration, Levan Zhorzholiani.
