Prosecutor General Giorgi Gvarakidze met with the Secretary General of the International Association of Prosecutors Roel Donna

Prosecutor General of Georgia Giorgi Gvarakidze met with the Secretary General of the International Association of Prosecutors [IAP] Roel Donna, who is on an official visit to Georgia. The meeting was also attended by the First Deputy Prosecutor General of Georgia

Kakhaber Muradashvili, Liaison Prosecutor at Eurojust Irakli Chilingarashvili, Head of the International Relations Department Giorgi Mikava, Head of Administration Ketevan Kvinikadze, and Executive Manager of Programs at the International Association of Prosecutors Irina Beridze were present.

At the meeting, the parties discussed the importance of the long-standing and fruitful relationship between the Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia [PoG] and the IAP, discussed specific areas of future cooperation, and expressed their willingness to continue fruitful cooperation in the future.

“We had a very productive and businesslike meeting. At the meeting, we discussed the participation of the PoG in the World Association of Prosecutors. We contribute a very significant human resource to the World Association of Prosecutors and discussed plans for future relations, as well as the possibility of organizing a regional conference in Georgia”, - said Giorgi Gvarakidze.

Roel Donna, Secretary General of the IAP, thanked the Prosecutor General of Georgia, Giorgi Gvarakidze, for the fruitful cooperation and hospitality: “I am delighted and honored to be in Georgia. We had a wonderful meeting with the Prosecutor General. Georgia is one of the most valued members of the IAP. Over the years, you have helped us organize conferences and provided us with support. You have also helped us prepare professional programs, training courses, and webinars for improving qualifications. So, it was wonderful to meet old friends and discuss the potential for future cooperation”.

Roel Donna visited the Tbilisi Prosecutor’s Office as part of his official visit, where a meeting was held. The meeting was attended by Deputy Prosecutor General of Georgia Avtandil Kochlamazashvili, Tbilisi Prosecutor Giorgi Mikaia, and representatives of the PoG.

The IAP unites more than 183 agencies from 180 countries around the world, as well as individual member prosecutors. The PoG has been an organizational member of the IAP since 2011, although it has been closely cooperating with the Association since 2014. In May 2018, a representative of the PoG was elected as a member of the IAP governing body - the Executive Committee, and accordingly, the PoG is involved in the governing activities of the Association.
