In connection with statements disseminated on social media, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Seyed Ali Moujani, was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia.

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia Alexander Khvtisiashvili informed the Iranian Ambassador that the statements disseminated on social media went beyond the scope of diplomatic activities and had a negative impact on public opinion.

The Deputy Minister expressed hope that the Iranian side would take appropriate measures to prevent similar incidents from recurring and thereby avoid the need for the Georgian side to take additional measures.

Alexander Khvtisiashvili also emphasized that diplomatic representatives accredited in Georgia should conduct their activities within the scope of their diplomatic mandate and competence, observe established norms of diplomatic relations, and refrain from interpreting the history and internal affairs of the host country.
