Former Minister of Internal Affairs Vakhtang Gomelauri is giving testimony in court in the case of Giorgi Gakharia, who is accused in the Chorchana episode. He arrived at the Tbilisi City Court a short while ago.

According to the charges, Giorgi Gakharia unilaterally made the decision to erect an additional police checkpoint near the village of Chorchana along the occupation line, as a result of which approximately one hundred hectares of forest area came under the control of the occupying forces.

Gakharia has been charged under the article that implies abuse of official powers by a political official and carries a sentence of 3 to 5 years of imprisonment.
