A Georgian wine tasting and presentation was held in London with financial support from the National Wine Agency and organized by its contracted marketing company, Swirl Wine Group, to raise awareness of Georgian wine and support export growth in the UK market.
The presentation, entitled “Exquisite Wine and Food Pairings from the Birthplace of Wine”, was attended by sommeliers, importers, and representatives of the media and retail chains. Guests had the opportunity to taste various styles of Georgian wine and learn about the history, traditions and modern practices of Georgian winemaking.
The event was led by Sarah Abbott, a renowned British Master of Wine and head of Swirl Wine Group.
“Georgian wines have an extraordinary range of aromas and textures, and they come alive with food. Pairing them with fine cuisine prepared by Jonny Lake, chef at the two-Michelin-starred restaurant Trivet, showcases the world-class quality and gastronomic versatility of Georgian wine. Georgian wines deserve a place on the wine list of any fine dining restaurant”, - said Sarah Abbott.
With financial support from the National Wine Agency, Swirl Wine Group is conducting the Georgian wine marketing campaign in the UK in 2026. As part of the campaign, Georgian wine tastings and seminars are held in various UK cities, Georgian wines are presented at international exhibitions, and targeted advertising and media campaigns are carried out. Wine tours to Georgia are also organized for British wine professionals. Notably, Georgia exported nearly 310,000 litres of wine to the UK in January–September this year, an increase of 43% compared with the same period last year.
