EU visa-free regime for citizens of Georgia

It has been for several hours already that EU visa-free travel regime has been launched for the citizens of Georgia. Holders of biometric passports can stay in the Schengen area and a number of EU member and non-member countries for maximum of 90 days out of 180 days.

In connection with historical fact of visa-free enactment about an hour ago, the Prime Minister accomanied by students, academicians, media representatives and members of the government left without visas from Tbilisi international airport for Athens the capital symbolizing the ancient civilization.

"This is a historic day. Today, the citizensof Georgia finally have been given the opportunity to travel visa-free to the Schengen countries, the EU countries. It is a great achievement, a very good opportunity for citizens to learn about the European Union, better understand the values on which the European Union stands," - said Giorgi Kvirikashvili .

He will open a conference on Georgia from Europe to Europe in Athens, which will be attended by Georgian and Greek professors, students and scientists. He will also hold a meeting with the Prime Minister of Greece, after which a joint press conference will be held.
